Dog Health

Forgive me for forgeting which term it is, spay or neuter. She’s older, very small as she’s a chiuhaha and a total indoor dog. The only obvious advantage that I can see is not having to deal with her ‘cycle’.
So is there any advantage to her health, in the future?

I know dogs that are poorly bred end up having more health problems. I also know pretty much all breeds have certain health issues that they are more prone to getting, that’s a really a given.

But as groomer more often than not when those breeds come in they have some thing going on with them, again this is my own personal observation.

I purchased a package of large rawhide bones at Costco last week. My 9 mo old German Shepherd really likes chewing on the one he focused on so far. I guess he ingests some of it. Are they bad for a dogs health?. My brother is telling me they are.

My 12 yr old shistzu who seems to have a very healthy body except for losing sight and deaf and going into dementia, but she has a dry nose and seems to be more disoriented. I have very little money, so I thought I’d come here first. She is eating and drinking and running in the park ?
I did take her to the vet and the nose was not an issue, but she had lost some weight and the vet told me what to watch for, so now everyone is better and just knowing what to watch for is great !! thanks for the one answer. WEndy

My dog is a ten year old male yorkie who is in overall good health, However, over the last three months his front right leg has progressively been getting less and less able to handle pressure. It is to the point where he limps frequently and refuses to stand on it. I am out of the country, however, his caregiver will be taking him to the vet on Friday. In the meantime, any feedback or suggestions on what this might be? There are no known injuries ever to have occurred in that region of his body.

I recently moved to a small town in MA. I have already been visited by the AC officer asking me to register my dogs (I have quite a few) with the town…of course as required by law they must be vaccinated for rabies and licensed. One of my dogs was vaccinated a year ago, but I’ve since found out he has chronic renal failure…I am not in anyway comfortable with giving him anymore vaccines. I can’t seem to find if there are any ordinances regarding dogs being exempt for a health condition?

Do you live in or around Alabama, and if so what are the things I need to ask my vet to screen them for that they would not normally do in Michigan?
