my jrt mix is about 2 years and 2 months old and after much thinking, we’ve decided to spay her. i am sort of kicking myself in the butt for not doing this sooner! will her health risks still be lowered even if she is over 2? she has had 2 heat cycles (that i can remember), one should be coming anytime now.

also, we’ll be going to a vet that participates in a low cost spay/neuter program. do you think this will be okay? is the level of care the same as if i paid full price for our regular vet (pain meds, quality of surgery, etc)?

and sorry for so many questions but one more thing, (i’m sure this will sound silly, but…) will my dog really “know” what has happened to her? did your dogs ever get depressed after being fixed? just a little something i’ve been thinking about…

thanks all!

Why does Obama’s dog have better Health Care than most Americans?

The Americans who are lucky enough to have insurance pay out the A$$ for it.

If they don’t get denied by the Corporate Beauracracy after paying massive premiums for years, they are forced to pay massive deductibles, co-pays, fees, etc. before they ever get to see a doctor.

If they are rich enough to afford all the fees and are lucky enough to get to see a doctor, they soon find themselves reaching their benefit cap.

Why do dogs have it better than Americans when it comes to Health Care?

I have seen people do this saying they make sure it is a fresh flush, and the dog gets cold water. I still worry about a dogs health when I hear about this.

hello,

me and my family are very sad about our 11 year old dogs health. :( his name is Jellybean. he is a half lab and half pitbull, great dog. for the past two weeks he has been rubbing his eyes against furniture and the carpets in the house until the fur is rubbed off and they are raw and very swollen, almost shut. he has bitten the tops of his paws red until the fur has come off in patches there. we took him to the vet and the they said he has bad allergies and possibly mites (found out by scraping the bottom of his paws) — does this sound like allgeries or mites to any dog experts?

today he had 2 seizure type incidents where he was shaking and fell out. we rushed him to vet again and they gave him more medicine. his eyes in his head are glassy, grayish, almost rolled back in his head from all the rubbing he had been doing. since they give him meds today he has stopped rubbing his eyes and biting his paws but is laying around looking pitiful with swollen eyes he can barely see out of. now the doc says it could be cataracts in both eyes! does this sound like that also? tomm. morning he has to go for blood work b/c we failed to take his muzzle with us today (we were in a rush). sigh. very sad and just wondering if anyone has any experiences like this….

thank you.
Is he likely to die from mites??
He has never had a seizure before.
He eats a food called “Wellness for Seniors.”
